Indigenous people's lives depend on their lands, but threats are growing worldwide

The threats facing Indigenous people opposing industrial operations on their lands discrimination, harassment and assassination all disproportionately affect women. And the coronavirus pandemic has done little to reduce the danger, say Indigenous and faith leaders.

Getting undocumented workers for jabs


SHAH ALAM: The government is still looking into ways to reach out to undocumented foreign workers in the country to get them inoculated against Covid-19.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said a ministerial meeting tomorrow would finalise methods on how to reach out to this group.
“My concern is how do we get in touch with those who have no documents, because without any form of assurance, I don’t think they will come out.
“This then defeats the purpose of us saying no one is safe but everyone is saved, ” he added.
Saravanan said a meeting with the Home Ministry, which was supposed to have taken place last Monday, would discuss more on foreign labour issues. ....
