From 2019 to 2020, Malaysia’s
Digital Civility Index score worsened by 4 points to 63; remains better performing than much of the region
Increases in experiences of hoaxes, frauds and scams, hate speech and discrimination resulted in a lower score for Malaysia
Microsoft today unveiled results from the fifth edition of its annual study, “Civility, Safety, and Interactions Online – 2020” along with findings from its 2020 Digital Civility Index (DCI). The study examines attitudes and perceptions about online behaviour and interactions, as well as raises awareness for the real-world consequences of online risks.
Malaysia’s DCI score, however worsened from 2019’s score of 59, indicating that more people are experiencing negative online interactions or encountering online risks. Risks for Malaysia’s online users that scored a record high include: ....

Microsoft has released its annual study, “Civility, Safety, and Interactions Online – 2020” along with findings from its 2020 Digital Civility Index (DCI).
Microsoft has released its annual study, “Civility, Safety, and Interactions Online – 2020” along with findings from its 2020 Digital Civility Index (DCI).
According to the study, certain online risks for Indian users remain, especially hate speech. Hate speech has doubled from 2016 to 26 per cent. There has also been a 5 per cent increase in hoaxes, scams, and frauds from 2017 to 22 per cent, and 6 per cent increase in discrimination since 2016 to 16 per cent, as per the report.
However, overall India’s score in online civility has improved to 68, from that of 71 in 2019. With the DCI, a lower score indicates better online civility. ....

Asia Pacific & Singapore, 9 February 2021 – Microsoft today unveiled results from its annual study, “Civility, Safety, and Interactions Online – 2020” along with findings from its 2020 Digital Civility Index (DCI). Results from Microsoft’s metric showed that the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) performed better in online civility in 2020 with a score of 66, compared with the previous year’s score of 68[1]. The global DCI also improved to 67 from 2019’s all-time poor score, indicating that more people are experiencing positive online interactions. ....
