A Tale of Two Elections: Fords Turn Out to Vote for President, but Not Students' Council – The Clerk

It was hard to ignore the enthusiasm surrounding the presidential election on campus last semester. Students hung signs on dorm doors advertising phone banking, held debate-watching sessions, and in the aftermath of the campus strike, had conversations about how to advance the nation in addition to the school community. Some even changed their registrations from their home states to Pennsylvania, knowing that it was a key swing state that could determine the election.
“Student organizers did a great job of registering students to vote and making sure they knew all of the various
ways they could vote,” said Zach Oberfield, a professor in the political science department. “There was a lot of confusion about mail-in ballots, the trustworthiness of the USPS, etc. and I think student groups really helped to ease concerns and provide accurate, timely information.” ....

With trio of champions and loads of depth, Maple Mountain fends off 5A/3A/2A/1A field for inaugural girls wrestling title


OREM Morgan Honsvick remembers starting the season with Maple Mountain s girls wrestling program with just five girls practicing and preparing for the first season of the newly sanctioned sport by the Utah High School Activities Association.
By the end of the season, four Golden Eagles were wrestling each other to finish off the final two weight classes of the 5A state tournament.
Honsvick clinched the 245-pound state title, and teammates Ashley Camacho and Abigail Archibald each added a title to help Maple Mountain roll to the first-ever 5A state title Wednesday night at Mountain View.
Honestly, I was surprised, said Honsvick, who pinned teammate Auriella Ramos in 2:30 to clinch her title. Nobody expected us to be where we are at today, and we just got there. ....
