Every dog has its own kind of character and personality. Magnum photographers captured them in images in a photobook published by DuMont.

Thomas Hoepker, born in 1936, became famous as a photojournalist for Stern magazine. For a time, he was the art director there. In 1989, Hoepker became the first German to become a full member of the renowned Magnum photo agency. While Hoepker s trademark was his subtle take on people and animals, he also created playful shots, such as this one taken in the streets of New York in 1983.

Inge Morath Award 2021 for Female Photographers (USD$5,000 for completion of a long-term documentary project)


Application Deadline: April 30th 2021
Magnus Foundation are accepting applications for the Inge Morath Award, a $5,000 grant given to a woman photographer under the age of 30 to support the completion of a long-term documentary project. One finalist will also receive a $1,000 grant in support of their project.
The recipient and finalist are selected by a jury composed of Magnum photographers, the Executive Director of the Magnum Foundation, and the Inge Morath Estate.
Inge Morath was an Austrian-born photographer who was associated with Magnum Photos for nearly fifty years. After her death in 2002, the Inge Morath Foundation was established with a limited-term mission to manage Morath’s estate and facilitate the study and appreciation of her contribution to photography. With the closure of the research space in 2014, Inge’s archive was acquired by the Beinecke Library at Yale University, and a set of Morath’s master prints by the Yale University Art Gallery, wh ....

SALZBURG
.- The Covid-19 crisis has prevented many artists from going out and engaging artistically with the outside world. As a result, many works have emerged from their focus on their own archives and from working with materials already to hand in their studios.
The curators at the FOTOHOF archiv have been similarly occupied during this period, embarking on a voyage of discovery of their own collection. The result is an exhibition entitled ‘Salzburg – Pictures from the Archive’ and featuring 13 artistic positions. As the title suggests, all the works revolve around the city of Salzburg. The earliest exhibits showcased in the new FOTOHOF archiv exhibition date from 1934 and are by a young Wolf Suschitzky, who took pictures of the city during an excursion undertaken by his Vienna photography school.
