IBA receives Rs8 million for Siraj Kassam Teli Endowment Fund Karachi May 20, 2021 The Institute of Business Administration Karachi on Wednesday announced the establishment of the âSiraj Kassam Teli Endowment Fundâ to support the financially challenged yet meritorious students at the institute. In a ceremony held at the IBA Main Campus, Nusair Teli, son of renowned industrialist Siraj Qasim Teli, handed over a cheque worth Rs8 million to Executive Director IBA Dr S Akbar Zaidi. The fund will aid the recipients in pursuing their undergraduate degree at the IBA. Speaking on the occasion, Nusair Teli said, âI wish to take forward my fatherâs mission to help the underprivileged people in Karachi which also extends to provision of quality education to the youth.â ....

Don Dickmann endows support for junior faculty in the Department of Forestry April 13, 2021 Emeritus Professor Don Dickmann worked for over 40 years in the Michigan State University Department of Forestry before retiring – not once, but twice – and even then, it didn’t quite stick. Emeritus faculty member Donald Dickmann He continued to teach part-time and serve on graduate committees and as acting Chairperson in 2010-11, reflecting, “that’s a good way to do it. Not just walk out the door and never look back. I couldn’t do it that way.” When Dickmann decided he wanted to give back to the forestry department by way of endowment, he reflected on how his contribution could be best used. “I have a real attachment to this unit and the people in it,” he said. ....
University of Michigan Pledges to Become Net-Zero by 2050 The $12.5 billion endowment’s portfolio will immediately shift to sustainable assets and shun fossil fuels. The University of Michigan has committed to reducing the carbon footprint of its $12.5 billion endowment to net-zero by 2050, and said it will immediately realign its portfolio toward sustainable investments and put an end to investing in companies that produce fossil fuels and greenhouse gases. The move, which was unanimously approved by the university’s board of regents, calls for the endowment to immediately shift its natural resources investments to focus more on renewable energy. It will also stop investing in funds that are focused on certain fossil fuels and discontinue direct investments in publicly traded companies that are the largest contributors to greenhouse gases. ....
