Dunlap downs Lady Giants Canton Daily Ledger CANTON The Lady Giants high school girls’ basketball team lost a close one to Dunlap Saturday, 36-28. Dunlap jumped out to an early lead ending the first quarter 8-3. Dunlap took a 10-point lead into the half, 24-14. The Lady Giants would close that gap somewhat at the end of three, 31-24, but were unable to make up the difference and suffered the loss. Leading scorer for Canton was Ava Wenger with 11 points. Adding five each were Bree Williamson and Ellie Downing. Scoring three points for Canton was Lily Gilles. Jenna Goforth and Ashley Groves both ended the game with two points each. ....

Unfortunately, the return was not kind to coach Jessica Jones and her Canton Lady Giants team as they fell to the Lady Potters of Morton by 45-32 score. Canton got down early in this contest and could never recover. In the first quarter Canton could only muster 1 of 10 shooting from the floor. The only bucket coming from Ashlyn Zedric who dropped a three early in the quarter. Morton meanwhile hit 7 of 12 shots for the quick 20-3 lead at the end of the first. ....
