As Lori Lightfoot rose in the polls against better known rivals two years ago, she pulled together nearly $300,000 to launch her first television ad.
In the commercial, first aired in January 2019, Lightfoot walked into a dark room, flicked on the lights and said, “I’ve prosecuted corrupt aldermen and held police accountable. Now, I’m running for mayor to finally make City Hall work for you.”
Speaking directly into the camera, Lightfoot said she supports an elected school board, “making all neighborhoods safe and reducing the unfair tax burden on working families.”
The ad, combined with intense fallout from the federal corruption case against Ald. Edward Burke, helped propel Lightfoot into a runoff against Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. ....

Incumbent Brian Campbell is running unopposed for 1st Ward Alderman. In the 6th Ward, incumbent Alderwoman Stephanie Elliott is running unopposed. Contested races include:

I would like to offer my insight into the views of Shelton Alderman Anthony Simonetti in his letter dated March 9. He states: “The recent short comings and criticisms of the SSTS are, however, not fair nor deserved.” The criticism is deserved, and every resident should be demanding answers.
Issues with the buses started before COVID. Service has been a problem since the BOE was forced to accept the city as their transportation supplier. When the city started in July 2019, bus drivers were driving their runs without having been properly vetted and drug tested. The first day of school in September 2019 was delayed because the city did not have enough drivers. Bus runs were overcrowded with students sitting in the aisles. There was an incident where a driver was pulled over, with kids on the bus, and removed for being drunk. There were times in 201 ....
