In 2006, a Sydney art-rock band named Teenager released their self-titled debut album, toured around a bit, then split up. Vocalist Pip Brown went on to become solo star Ladyhawke, while Nick Littlemore went back to his day job Pnau, whose own self-titled album the following year became Elton Johnâs favourite, shot them into the international limelight, and produced the seeds of what would flower into the even-more-successful Empire of the Sun. Close to 15 years later, after illness forced him into a six month sabbatical, Littlemore found his thoughts returning to his old band. Before the End is the result: a one-off track intended as the bones of a remix but sounding every bit the stadium-sized anthem. Like M83, this song takes the âfeelâ of teenage years rather than any specific reference points, synthesises it through a John Hughes soundtrack to arrive at something life-affirming and desperate, in the best sense of the word. One of Victoria’s premier boutique festivals from the last couple of years, Loch Hart Music Festival has lifted the lid on the first round of artists set to perform when the event makes its anticipated return in November, after an involuntary break in 2020.
Situated a stone’s throw from The Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge along Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road, the grassroots BYO event plays host to more than 20 Australian acts over one weekend on one stage in a natural amphitheatre in Princeton. In the past, the likes of Didirri, Alice Ivy, Alpine, WAAX, Last Dinosaurs and Genesis Owusu have performed.

The festival makes its return to South Gippsland this New Year’s.
NYE on the Hill is officially back with the beloved festival revealing a huge lineup taking to its serene Loch location this New Year’s.
Going down from Thursday December 30, 2021 until Saturday January 1, 2022, NYE on the Hill will welcome over 30 bands and performers into its space, as well as late night DJs, a deck disco, comedians, art installations, morning yoga, curated food trucks and licensed bars.
