The now retired road commissioner for Huron County was given a Distinguished Service Award from the CRA after serving nearly two decades and concluding his term in December. Upon receiving word of Power’s retirement, the CRA was soon contacted with recommendations to acknowledge his efforts. “Usually somebody at the road commission or with a neighboring road commission will nominate someone and complete the application,” said Dustin Earley, communications manager for the CRA. “I’ve worked really close with Mike for a long time and he’s been such a great member of our organization. ....

The shorter runway, which is 3,500 feet long, will be down for two weeks as it is being repaired. The longer runway, which is 5,009 feet long, will be down for two months, June and July, as it gets repaired. ....

Power is retiring from the board at the end of his term. “If I am re-appointed, it will be for another six-year term,” the 77-year-old Power said, as he wanted someone new to step into his role. “I did not want to commit another six years to it. Eighty-three is way too old.” As one of the three members of the road commission, Power was responsible for overseeing 1,800 miles of roads, more than 100 drains, the county parks, and the county airport.
