Date Time Western’s artwork is an example of reconciliation in practice Early last year, Western Sydney University’s Executive team, together with a group of academics and professional staff, participated in a full-day cultural exchange workshop to enhance their understanding of Country and culture. This was co-facilitated by Allan McKenzie – a proud Wiradjuri Gamilaroi man from Griffith NSW. Allan has painted for over 29 years and promotes Aboriginal culture through optical storytelling, song, and dance. It was at this cultural workshop that the journeyed artwork commenced. Since then, Allan has facilitated a number of workshops where over 120 individuals, including Western Sydney University staff and students, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, contributed to the painting and engaged in Aboriginal cultural learning. The latest installment in this franchise of films was part of the 2020 line-up as Case Closed: The Scarlet Bullet, which was set for an April 17th, 2020 theatrical debut but was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We learned in June that it had been pushed back to an April 2021 release with a firmer date to come much later. That recently some clarity as the film has been set for an April 16th, 2021 debut for it where it’s getting released in 22 countries worldwide. With the film hitting in Japan and displacing the Evangelion film at the box office, Australian distributor Madman Entertainment has picked up the theatrical exhibition rights to it with plans for what looks to be a May 13th, 2021 debut at several locations. ....

With Council President Cynthia Borrego and Klarissa Peña both absent, the council took final action on just one bill: Councilor Isaac Benton’s proposed moratorium on new residential parking permit areas. “Residential parking permit area” is the city’s term for places where on-street parking is limited to residents with city-issued permits. Neighborhoods can petition the city for the designation as long as 51% of people living on the affected street support the restrictions. Until now, the RPPAs were mostly concentrated around the University of New Mexico campus and Downtown.
