IEDA announces awards for projects that will create 407 jobs BY BUSINESS RECORD STAFF Monday, July 19, 2021 10:43 AM The Iowa Economic Development Authority has awarded more than $8 million in incentives to five companies for projects that will create more than 400 jobs. The IEDA board also announced innovation funding for two startups during its meeting on Friday. Industrial and farm equipment manufacturer Vermeer Corp. in Pella was awarded more than $2.2 million in tax refunds and credits for a planned project, including the construction of a new parts distribution facility at its Pella campus. The project represents a capital investment of nearly $44 million. According to IEDA documents, the project is needed to accommodate growth and to separate parts and aftermarket support from the manufacturing process, helping to increase overall efficiency in the operation. ....

The work has been supported by the Norwegian funding body CLIMIT and the Australian Commonwealth Government under the Carbon Capture & Storage Research Development and Demonstration Fund. An updated recommended practice, DNVGL-RP-F104 Design and operation of CO2 pipelines, has been published based on the results from the CO2SafeArrest joint industry project between Energy Pipelines CRC and DNV. The project involved two large-scale CO2 crack arrest tests being carried out on 24” pipelines to better understand the safety implications of CO2 releases.
