King and Slim often played together, with King’s scorching guitar backing Slim’s deep and smooth vocals that bring to mind the cool, flowing singing of John Lee Hooker…. Along with his upcoming 82nd birthday, New Orleans blues artist Milton Frazier has something else to celebrate. Frazier the singer, guitarist and songwriter known as Alabama Slim is releasing his third album, The Parlor, today. Accompanied by his cousin, Little Freddie King “Fread Eugene Martin,” and producer-drummer Ardie Dean, he recorded the project in four hours. “We went in and laid it down,” Frazier said of his unfussy session at the Parlor Recording Studio. “As a matter of fact, me and Freddie, we’re just ready, man, because that’s my thing.” You can stream the premiere below.
