Politicians, artists, scientists, business and cultural leaders are among the Manitobans to be honoured with the Order of Manitoba later this year.
Twelve Manitobans will receive the Order of Manitoba, the province’s highest honour, at a ceremony at the Manitoba Legislative Building that because of the COVID-19 pandemic is tentatively scheduled for July 15.

The Health Sciences Centre Foundation this week is officially launching its $4.5-million HSC Transplant Wellness Centre. We’re excited to announce the official opening of this clinic. years in the making, that will materially improve patient care for Manitobans requiring transplants, not only now, but in the future, said Jonathon Lyon, foundation president and chief executive officer. WINNIPEG A new partnership between the Health Sciences Centre Foundation, the Province of Manitoba, and Transplant Manitoba will help increase the number of kidney transplants that can be offered. The Health Sciences Centre Transplant Wellness Centre was officially revealed on Friday, with Health Minister Heather Stefanson saying the building will benefit people who need transplants. “By bringing these care services together, the new Centre will expand transplant capacity, reduce patient bottlenecks, and significantly reduce kidney transplant wait times,” Stefanson said in a statement. The new centre cost $4.5 million, with money coming from the province and two anonymous donors, and quadruples the size of the current space, which was previously spread out throughout HSC.
