ORLEANS â The Thousand Islands Land Trust is hosting its TILT Kids Camp next month, focusing on land and river health along the St. Lawrence River.
The camp, called âHealthy Land = Healthy River,â will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at Thousand Island Park on Wellesley Island. Campers will focus on the river ecosystem, tributaries and fish through a hike, scavenger hunt and water sampling.
Interactive stations will be led by the Friends of Rock Ridges Nature Trails, the Thousand Islands Biological Station, Save the River and TILTâs summer watercraft inspection stewards.
Lunch will be provided. Kids must be accompanied by an adult and should wear clothing and footwear appropriate for outdoor play. Space is limited, and advance registration is requested. Register by emailing treks@tilandtrust.org, calling 315-686-5345, or visiting tilandtrust.org.

CLAYTON â The Thousand Islands Land Trust is partnering with the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation this month for the annual Loon Census.
Participants can pick a spot along the St. Lawrence River from 8 to 9 a.m. July 17 to help TILT gather common loon population data in the Thousand Islands region. The annual data collection supplements the ACLCâs collection from across Northern New York.
Data collection can be done on a beach, by kayak or boat, from a park or on a dock. Collection forms and instructions will be distributed by TILT by email and are available in print at the TILT office, 135 John St., Clayton.
CLAYTON â The Thousand Islands Land Trust is hosting a trek designed for kids this month.
The Buzz on Bugs trek will be held from 10 a.m. to noon July 20 at Zenda Farms Preserve. The trek will focus on insects that live in the preserveâs community garden, grassland habitat and vernal pools.
The event will feature interactive stations, and snacks will be provided. Kids each must be accompanied by an adult and be wearing clothing and footwear appropriate for outdoor play.
