Then along Stafford St, which was closed to traffic from George St to Strathallan Corner, were another 25 selling hot food and other delights. Sophie Lloyd is looking forward to a sleep in on Sunday, following what looks to be a busy day at the Timaru Farmers’ Market. The Saturday market, honouring Mothers’ Day, will include 50 stalls with a mix of food and gifts. Pleasant Point mother-of-two said it may only be a small sleep in she gets as she has to take one daughter to a gymnastics competition. She will be at the market the day before selling her homemade gluten-free, and vegan, Italian macarons. ....

The Timaru Artisan Farmers’ Market has gone from strength to strength since rebranding and moving to a new location, so will hold a twilight Christmas market to end a successful year. With 74 stalls, mostly from South Canterbury, anyone who has left their Christmas shopping to the last minute won’t be disappointed at Tuesday’s market, co-ordinator Andrea Hutton said. “There’s some fantastically talented crafts people and producers. Some from out of town but most from Timaru,” Hutton said. ....
