Fact Check-Fruit juices and coffee cannot produce a positive test result for COVID-19

Updated to correct paragraph formatting
Social media users claiming that fruit juices and coffee have tested positive for COVID-19 have misunderstood how lateral flow devices (LFDs) work. Videos allegedly showing a positive test result actually reveal what happens when devices are degraded by using substances other than those intended.
Examples of the claim can be found here, herehere.
“Imagine just how many hundreds of thousands of fake positives have been reported as actual covid,” one individual said in a Facebook post (here).
Many of the users have tested LFDs with substances other than saliva to prove they are ineffective. They include examples of the devices showing two pink lines, indicative of a positive COVID-19 result. ....

Bezos, Branson and Musk Scrambling For Supply Of This Rare Gas

The tech industry is likely to find itself scrambling to secure supply…
It’s key to hard drives.
It helps feed our insatiable hunger for big data.
Without it, medicine would be deprived of MRIs and critical R&D.
Even billionaire Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin space mission depends on it… as the richest man in the world prepares to go on the maiden commercial flight into space.
So does Elon Musk’s SpaceX, Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, and of course, NASA.
That’s why we’ve had a federal reserve for this gas and price controls since the early days of the Cold War.  ....

The hoodwinking approach actually just involves disrupting the test by putting incompatible liquids into the drop tester and has gained much in the way of negative press owing to the fact that there are a small number of alleged cases of students using it to stay home from school.
While several substances – including lemon juice, Coca-Cola, and ketchup – have been found capable of producing a false positive in the lateral flow drop test, that this happens isn’t an indicator of the test’s efficacy in detecting the virus. Lateral flow testing kits are supplied with a specific solution for transferring biological materials from the swab to the test. This liquid is specifically designed to filter through the test and react with its ingredients to give a positiv ....
