FIFA President Gianni Infantino has held fruitful talks with Lord Foulkes, a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), who is currently working on a new report on football governance. Held via videoconference, the meeting provided the opportunity to address a number of key issues for society in which FIFA and football can play an important role.
“We had a very constructive discussion with the opportunity of Lord Foulkes’ upcoming report, and I was very pleased to see that FIFA and the Council of Europe can continue working hand in hand, with joint objectives, common challenges and a number of shared priorities, particularly with regard to the fight against corruption, the promotion of good governance and the protection of human rights,” the FIFA President said. “It is clear that football can play its part in tackling societal issues and be a force to bring about positive social change. ....

London won’t silence Scotland
WESTMINSTER will not succeed in silencing Scotland. Scotland’s devolved powers must not be eroded by a clawback by Westminster on the back of Brexit.
This was the case being made in the Commons by SNP MP Drew Hendry, who in clearly demonstrating democracy and making Scotland’s case during the Internal Market Bill debate, got rather heated and was subsequently suspended.
Westminster will never silence Scotland: it will only succeed in making Scotland more determined to have its voice heard.
