Cllr Jodie Lucas, 27, told the annual council meeting she was truly and deeply honoured to have been nominated for the position. She succeeds councillor Antony Watts who received his past mayor s badge from cllr Lucas at the meeting held at Waltham Abbey Town Hall on Wednesday. Cllr Lucas said: I really am truly and deeply honoured to be elected as Mayor of Waltham Abbey and it is a privilege to accept this position in the town my family has resided in for nearly 200 years. ....

The Mayor of Waltham Abbey has reflected on a difficult couple of years caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and praised the town s community spirit as he prepares to hand over his chain of office next week. Councillor Antony Watts, who has been Town Mayor for the last two years, also remembered the family of Neil Darnell, the father-of-two who died in a hit-and-run road crash in Farm Hill Road, Waltham Abbey, last month, saying Mr Darnell and his family will always be in my thoughts . ....
