Buckeyes Fifth with a Round to Play at NCAA Regional

Share TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Ohio State posted another solid round of 3-under 285 on Tuesday in the second round of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional and are in fifth place with a round to go. The top five teams and top individual not on one of those five teams after Wednesday’s round will qualifying to the NCAA Championship in two weeks at the Grayhawk Golf Club. Just like in round one, the Buckeyes started on the tougher back nine and played it better today, making the turn at 1-over for the day. On the front, the Buckeyes didn’t make as many birdies as in round one, but it was enough to elevate them into fifth place at 7-under par. OSU has a four-shot lead on sixth place TCU and is just two shots behind Georgia for fourth place.

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Regional in Tallahassee, Fla., on May 17-19. This is the 50th all-time NCAA postseason appearance for the Buckeyes. The tournament will be played at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club, hosted by Florida State. Ohio State is the 11-seed in the 14-team field that will advance the top five teams and the top individual from a non-advancing team to the NCAA Championship. The finals will be at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., later this month. With the cancelation of last season’s championship, the last time the Buckeyes were in a regional, they had a good time. Share CARMEL, Ind. – Crooked Stick Golf Club is one of the tougher courses in the country and it’s showing its teeth this week. The wind and thick rough has made scoring difficult. Ohio State posted a round of 301 on Saturday and currently sits in sixth place at the Big Ten Championship with a round to play. The scoring was a bit better on Saturday but the field average was still north of 76.5. Through two rounds, the average score is 77.67. Freshman Maxwell Moldovan continues to lead the Buckeyes as he has posted rounds of 74-75 and is in the Top 10 at 5-over par. Felix Kvarnstrom had the low round of the day for the Buckeyes as he made four birdies and posted a 2-over 74. He is tied for 12
