COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State freshman Maxwell Moldovan has certainly lived up to the hype in his first collegiate season and he was recognized for his play on Wednesday, by being named second team All-Big Ten.
Moldovan flew out of the gate, recording rounds at par or better in each of his first 13 collegiate rounds. He has five Top 20 finishes in seven events, including three Top 10 finishes. He was runner-up at the Valspar Collegiate at 9-under which came against one of the strongest fields in collegiate golf this season.
The Uniontown, Ohio native leads the team in scoring at 71.57 and 20.5 of his 21 rounds have counted towards the team score. He also tops the squad with eight rounds in the 60s and 13 rounds at par or better. His current scoring average of 71.57 is the lowest for a season since Chris Wollmann averaged 71.50 as a senior in 1996-97.
