Requiem for Samuel Sunday Obaro


Chief Samuel Sunday Obaro who died on March 11, 2021, was born on the 6th of November 1938 in Igarra, the headquarters of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area in Edo State. He was the fourth surviving son of Okomayin Joseph Izuse and Mrs. Abigail Owanza Obaro of the Eshinavaka Royal Family. His paternal grandfather was the son of Otaru Aibobo and his mother was the sister of Otaru Idanage.
It was about the time of Samuel’s birth that Apostle Joseph Balalola, the founder of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) visited Igarra for evangelization. His father and mother were converted to become Christians and were subsequently baptized and became founding members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Igarra. Chief Obaro attended the CAC with his parents from a tender age and remained a devout member of the church till his death. His mother was “Iya-ijo” of CAC until her death. Little Samuel was the first baby to be christened in the Christ Apostolic Church in 1938. ....

Due to COVID-19, they had no choice but to acclimate to at first, online learning, then the hybrid model, as education could not go into lockdown due to the pandemic. John Imonbhio Abhuere was born on 21st April 1951 at Unuwazi Uromi, Edo State, Nigeria. He attended St. John’s Anglican Primary School, Unuwazi from where he proceeded to Edo Boy’s High School (now Adolor College), Ugbowo, Benin City. He later attended the University of Lagos for a Bachelor Degree Course, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, University of Ibadan (U.I.), University College, Swansea, South Wales, the University of Wales and the University of Benin for both undergraduate and post graduate studies.

Mackay school takes out honours in hotly-contested challenge

Whitsunday Anglican School this week took out the CQUniversity School Business Challenge for the Central Queensland Region round.
The winning Mackay team consisting of Flynn Bushell, Charlie Webb, Amaya McKinnon and Lezaan Du Plessis took out the hotly-contested competition on Tuesday night and will now look forward to representing the region and their school at the national finals on July 27.
