51 Flour Bluff High School students recognized for completing health science certifications Trevier Gonzalez/KRIS 6 and last updated 2021-05-14 00:12:45-04 CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A pinning ceremony held Thursday evening recognized dozens of Flour Bluff junior and seniors for completing one or more certifications through Del Mar College. Students received honors for completing programs in disciplines like Electrocardiography (EKG), Phlebotomy, “Patient Care Technician” and “Basic Medical Assistant.” Leonard Rivera, the Dean of Continuing Education and Off-Campus Programs, was the guest speaker. He said he knows what the students went through wasn’t easy. “These young men and women that have garnered these very difficult, rigorous healthcare credentials here in Flour Bluff are going to have opportunity galore once they graduate and walk the stage here from their high school years and transition into their post secondary adult years,” River

Freer, Premont health students get their white coats from Del Mar College

View Comments High school students from Freer and Premont ISDs received their white coats and pins during a ceremony Wednesday for pursuing healthcare training at Del Mar College. As part of the Rural Schools Innovation Zone (RSIZ) initiative, which includes the Next Generation Medical Academy, 12 students from Freer High School and six from Premont High School have completed Del Mar College Health Sciences’ 64-hour Electrocardiography (EKG) Program through the DMC Continuing Education & Off-Campus Programs Division. The RSIZ includes Brooks County, Freer and Premont ISDs and Del Mar College. The Next Generation Medical Academy prepares students for college and careers with a focus in health science such as a certified nurse assistant, patient care technician or a licensed vocational or registered nurse.

TAMU-CC, DMC to Share $650K Texas Reskilling Grant to Support Local Workforce Demands

NewsSportsEntertainmentLifestyleUSA TODAYObituariesE-EditionLegals Nueces Country Record Star Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College, partners dedicated to enhancing educational access and opportunity for students throughout the Coastal Bend, are proud to share a $650,000 Texas Reskilling Support Fund Grant through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The money is part of the CARES Act of 2020. The Texas Reskilling Support Fund Grant Program is a $46.5 million fund established to provide essential emergency educational support (tuition and fees) to students who have been most significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and aid in the continuation of their education and economic recovery. The grant is intended to support displaced Texas workers who need to reskill or upskill to get back into the workforce and Texas students who have previously “stopped out” of higher education institutions without completing a postsecondary credential.

Nominations Accepted for Year-End UW Faculty Awards | News

February 1, 2021 The University of Wyoming’s Academic Affairs office and the Faculty Senate’s Faculty Recognition and Development Committee are now accepting nominations for the year-end faculty awards. The deadline is Friday, Feb. 19. Nominations are for the yearly John P. Ellbogen Meritorious Classroom Teaching Award; George Duke Humphrey Distinguished Faculty Award; Hollon Family Award for Teaching Excellence in Off-Campus Programs; and the John P. Ellbogen Lifetime Teaching Award. Each of the awards carries a stipend. Nominations, including all letters and supporting materials, can be sent electronically to Mandy Gifford in the Academic Affairs office at mandyj@uwyo.edu. Nomination packets also can be sent to: Faculty Recognition and Development Committee, c/o Office of Academic Affairs, Old Main, Room 318, UW Campus.
