CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â The Fl0ur Bluff ISD will no longer require masks to be worn during its outdoor activities.
Flour Bluff Superintendent Velma Soliz-Garcia announced in a You Tube post that the move will be effective on Saturday.
It will include sporting events on FBISD s campuses.
Soliz-Garcia ways the reason they are making masks optional at these events is to align its policy with the newly released CDC national guidelines on mask-wearing requirements outdoors.
Flour Bluff ISD will lift its face mask mandate for outdoor activities at its facilities starting Saturday.
Superintendent Velma Soliz-Garcia said in a YouTube video that due to the Center for Disease Control announcing new guidelines on Tuesday, they have decided to have face masks be optional. Fully vaccinated people can participate in many outdoor activities without a mask at low-risk to themselves or to others, Soliz-Garcia said. While generally safe for vaccinated people to be outdoors without a mask, (the) CDC continues to recommend requiring masking in crowded settings and venues where there is a decreased ability to maintain physical distance until widespread vaccination coverage is achieved.
