Ranchi: Around 90 doctors from various medical disciplines were given training on the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) procedure as part of their Continuing Medical Education (CME) on Saturday. ECMO, also known as extracorporeal life support (ECLS), is a technique of providing prolonged cardiac and respiratory support to persons whose heart and lungs are unable to provide an adequate amount of gas exchange or perfusion to sustain life, has emerged as a boon for the critically-ill Covid-19 patients.
