In view of recent spike in Covid-19 cases in the city, the authorities in Bhopal have extended the lockdown by another week. The lockdown order will be in place till May 24.
The lockdown in the state capital was set to end on May 17.
District Collector Avinash Lavaniya said in a statement that the decision to extend the Covid-19 restriction was taken in the wake of surge in Covid-19 cases across Bhopal. Accordingly, lockdown has been extended in Bhopal and Berasia town of the district till 6 am on May 24.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday claimed that the COVID-19 positivity rate in Madhya Pradesh has come down from 24 per cent earlier to 10.68 per cent now, with some districts showing less than five detections per 100 tests.
