Taylor University Broadcasting plans urban gospel format
The Journal Gazette
Taylor University Broadcasting Inc. is purchasing the 94.1 FM radio frequency from Northeast Indiana Public Radio and plans an urban gospel format called Rhythm and Praise, the organizations announced today. The price was not disclosed.
Pending FCC approval, the transfer of ownership will take place later this summer, the organizations said in a statement.
Classical music using the call letters WBNI-FM is currently airing on the frequency, and will be continued on wbni.org, on the WBNI mobile app, on HD radio and on smart speakers and mobile devices, the statement said. ....

NORTHEAST INDIANA PUBLIC RADIO, INC. is selling Classical WBNI-F/ROANOKE, IN to TAYLOR UNIVERSITY BROADCASTING, INC. for $350,000. The buyer, owner of Contemporary Christian WBCL/FORT WAYNE, plans to flip the station to Gospel using the RHYTHM & PRAISE programming presently heard on its WBCL-HD2; the Classical programming of WBNI will continue on WBOI-HD2/FORT WAYNE and online.

Book of Reports has reignited a public dispute between Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and its former president Paige Patterson.
Both sides cite the dispute as a test of the convention’s commitment to truth and a harbinger of its future direction.
Southwestern’s dispatch in the annual
Book of Reports, which presents information for messengers attending the denomination’s upcoming annual meeting, alleges Patterson misappropriated “confidential donor information” and took seminary property after his 2018 termination over allegations of mishandling sexual abuse.
The report comes three months after the seminary settled a lawsuit against a foundation that shifted millions in funding following Patterson’s departure. ....

Carl M. Freeman Foundation awards 14 FACES grants


The Carl M. Freeman Foundation recently announced grant awards for 14 Sussex County nonprofit organizations through the FACES (Freeman Foundation Assists Communities with Extra Support) Grant Program. The FACES program focuses support to small organizations that provide grassroots services to the community.
The FACES program utilizes an advisory board composed entirely of citizens who live or work in Sussex County. Advisory board members include community leaders, business professionals, students and nonprofit ambassadors. Advisory board members evaluate the applications and recommend where funding should be awarded based on the needs and priorities of the community.
The 14 nonprofits receiving grants are: Art Works for All, Cancer Support Community Delaware, Clothing Our Kids, Delmarva Adult & Teen Challenge, Friends of Sussex CASA, Historic Lewes Farmers Market, John M.
