Ghaziabad: A 29-year-old man out on parole in a case of fraud came home drunk and found his parents fighting among themselves. He whipped out a country-made pistol and shot his father in the chest, killing him on the spot. Shivam Chanana then called up police and said he wanted to surrender. The alleged murder took place on Thursday night at Devika Skypers in Raj Nagar Extension, where the 29-year-old accused lived with his parents and younger brother Rahul. Police said both the brothers, who worked as supervisors at a factory in Sihani Gate, were arrested a few months ago in connection with a Rs 10 lakh fraud in their office. They got parole during the lockdown, when several jails were emptied so that Covid did not spread among prisoners.

Ghaziabad: Amid rising cases of Covid-19, four persons have been arrested for allegedly selling oxygen cylinders and flow meters in the black market in Ghaziabad. Police have sized four oxygen cylinders and 20 flow meters from their possession. Acting on a tip-off, police set up a check post in the Sihani Gate area on Thursday evening and intercepted a Honda Civic in which two Delhi residents identified as Rahul Kumar (30) and Sudhanshu Singh (32) were travelling towards Raj Nagar extension. Upon checking, cops found four oxygen cylinders in the car. Avnish Kumar, circle officer-2, said, “When questioned, the accused initially told the cops that they were taking the cylinders for their relatives. But we subsequently found their version to be false. Later they admitted that they bought the cylinders from Delhi and were looking for potential customers in Ghaziabad.”
