Rural Fire Service (RFS) Week 2021 was officially launched at the Rocksberg Moorina Rural Fire Station today.
Minister for Fire and Emergency Services Mark Ryan MP said RFS Week is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the amazing work of RFS volunteers.
“This week we pay tribute to the incredible dedication and resilience of our more than 30,000 RFS volunteers,” Mr Ryan said.
“Our RFS volunteers give up time they may otherwise spend with family and friends to dedicate to activities, such as emergency response, training, helping communities to prepare for bushfires and protecting their communities when disaster strikes.

The Victorian and Queensland Governments have secured a deal to share a Large Air Tanker to support aerial firefighting capacity in both states during their respective bushfire seasons.
The Bombardier Dash-8 Q400AT aircraft will operate in Queensland from September to December to cover their bushfire season and will operate in Victoria for the height of summer from December to February.
Sharing aerial firefighting resources provides both states with better value for money while ensuring the aircraft is available to support firefighting efforts on the ground when and where it is needed most.
The agreement covers the 2021 to 2024 bushfire seasons and the Large Air Tanker will remain in Victoria between bushfire seasons.

This weekend, more than 120 Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers will attend the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) RFS Volunteer Summit in Cairns.
Representing Minister for Fire and Emergency Services Mark Ryan, Minister for Seniors and Disability Services, Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Member for Barron River Craig Crawford MP, said the summit is a great opportunity for RFS volunteers to come together, learn and develop their skills.
