The Victorian and Queensland Governments have secured a deal to share a Large Air Tanker to support aerial firefighting capacity in both states during their respective bushfire seasons.
The Bombardier Dash-8 Q400AT aircraft will operate in Queensland from September to December to cover their bushfire season and will operate in Victoria for the height of summer from December to February.
Sharing aerial firefighting resources provides both states with better value for money while ensuring the aircraft is available to support firefighting efforts on the ground when and where it is needed most.
The agreement covers the 2021 to 2024 bushfire seasons and the Large Air Tanker will remain in Victoria between bushfire seasons.

Victorian businesses face new $1,652 on-the-spot fine for ignoring QR code rules
May 14, 2021
Victorian businesses found deliberately violating the state’s COVID-19 check in rules will face a new $1,652 on-the-spot fine, and a potential $9,913 fine for repeated breaches.
The announcement of the fine comes two weeks before the Victorian government will require all businesses to use its Service Victoria app instead of third-party check-in apps such as MrYum and CovidPass from May 28.
The fine is a response to a compliance blitz the state government undertook over three weeks in April.
During the blitz, compliance officers visited more than 4,000 hospitality and retail businesses, checking whether they complied with COVIDSafe rules.

Acting Minister for Police and Emergency Services Danny Pearson said any breaches would not be tolerated. While most businesses are doing the right thing, those who aren t are letting down every Victorian who has sacrificed to get us where we are today, he said. This new on-the-spot $1652 fine sends a clear message that we will not tolerate any business ignoring its responsibility to help Victoria stay safe and stay open.
Meanwhile in SA, police have announced they will start deploying plain-clothed officers at businesses making sure people are scanning the coronavirus codes that keep track of potential exposures and outbreaks in a move called Operation Trace .
