Career Navigator Team at APS offers incentive prizes to students – WBKB 11

ALPENA, Mich. The Career Navigator Team at Alpena Public Schools is offering incentive prizes to K-12 students who submit a completed activity. The team provides specific resources and activities for students at APS, Alcona, Hillman, and Atlanta schools. Students who complete activities will be placed into a drawing with one winner from each school being selected.
The APS team is asking for sponsorship from local businesses in the way of giveaways such as swag, gift cards and more. The team said in return they will promote the donating business.

The social interaction kids get in the classroom with their peers is as important to their learning and development as arithmetic and biology.
Many kids just don’t learn well in the kind of environment offered by online courses.
And many parents struggle to balance watching their kids at home with the mandates of their job.
We understand all of those concerns, but we still think the Northeast Michigan schools who decided to keep kids learning at home through winter break including Alpena Public Schools made the right call.
Kids need consistency. Parents need predictability.
With the virus still raging in our communities, the risk that schools might bring kids back only to have to send them home again because of a virus scare was just too great. ....

ALPENA Alpena Public Schools will continue remote learning from Monday through Jan. 8, the district said in a robocall to parents today.
Remote learning schedules will remain the same as they were prior to the winter break.
On Jan. 11, in-person and hybrid learning will resume. Kindergartners through fifth-grade students will learn in person five days a week, with the same daily schedule and protocols that were in place in the fall. Students in grades six through 12 will return to their same hybrid schedules as were used previously. ....
