It is the last county to open to this group and the only one not opening up to 70 and over yet. Albany County is only receiving Moderna vaccines because the county doesn t have the ability to store the Pfizer vaccine. The first shipment of Moderna vaccines was received a week later than the Pfizer vaccine. There are also five counties that got their first shipment of vaccines 10 days before Albany County did, as well as the counties that didn t get initial vaccine shipment, said Albany County Health Officer Dr. Jean Allais. So that put us that far behind to begin with. ....

ALBANY COUNTY Although the clamor continues for COVID-19 vaccinations as demand far outstrips supply, the Capital Region is doing well getting the vaccine it has into the arms of residents, according to figures released by the governor on Friday. The Capital Region has administered 92 percent of first and second doses of the vaccine it has received. Of the state’s 10 regions, only two others have a higher rate: the North Country at 94 percent and the Southern Tier at 93 percent. New York City has the worst rate, at 63 percent. ....

You have to be patient,” said Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy at his Tuesday morning press briefing. In its 44th week of battling the virus, Albany County broke records for hospitalizations with 163 announced on Thursday and for new cases, with 351 announced on Tuesday, topping the Jan. 1 record of 346. ....
