A Coast resident fears a bird widely recognised as the emblem of his neighbourhood is in decline and wonât survive for future generations.
Alexandra Headland resident Allan Blizard has visited the man-made Nelson Park Lake twice daily for the past five years and has noticed a significant drop in the number of black swans and cygnets living in the lake.
âJust recently, Iâve seen two hatchlings of five basically disappear within days,â he said.
A mother-of-two is confined to a wheelchair in constant pain after a surf lesson went horribly wrong due to a rare condition that has doctors stumped.
Roisin Clark woke up before sunrise on December 10, 2019, and excitedly got ready for her very first surfing lesson at Maroochydore Beach, on Queensland s Sunshine Coast, before work.
On a beautiful summer morning she and her best friend posed for a photo in front of their large learner surfboards, ready to get on the ocean.

In front of a home crowd, the duo delivered an epic performance for their home club, with spectators cheering them home to take the win over Charlie Brooks and Zach Morris (Newport) and Matt Bevilacqua and Matt Poole (Northcliffe). After flat conditions dominated the morning s program, southerly winds picked up to create a small chop and give the men a little assistance on the run home. It feels absolutely awesome especially on the home beach and bringing Beauie out of retirement is just something special, Palmer said. WEATHER Well, it has been another glorious week of weather across the local region this past week, with even a very warm day thrown in on Wednesday to remind us all not to get the winter blankets out just yet. Looking ahead to this Anzac Day Long Weekend, the first of two long weekends in a row, and the forecast does look quite mixed with mostly cloudy skies expected (although no real threat of any rain) and the return of those cooler or milder temperatures as well.
