A Coast resident fears a bird widely recognised as the emblem of his neighbourhood is in decline and wonât survive for future generations.
Alexandra Headland resident Allan Blizard has visited the man-made Nelson Park Lake twice daily for the past five years and has noticed a significant drop in the number of black swans and cygnets living in the lake.
âJust recently, Iâve seen two hatchlings of five basically disappear within days,â he said.
