The Carpinteria girls won the title too, the first time both boys and girls won a league titles for Carpinteria since 1999. The last league title for either was a girls’ title in 2004, in the Tri-Valley League. Rinaldi was honored as the Outstanding Boy Athlete of the meet and remained undefeated on the season for the 100 and 200. He shaved .02 seconds off his school record 100 time as CIF looms, to 10.85 seconds from 10.87.

Conversely, he increased his PR in the discus by throwing 125-9. Mateo Handall won his second 400 race of the season, clocking a time of 53.39. On the girls side, Alexander set a PR in the long jump at 15-3.25 and took the triple jump with a mark of 31-11. She is a sophomore. Alexandra Zapata opened her season on a promising note with 66.14 victory in the 400. She finished volleyball last week and is is in the process of getting her sprinting legs back, said Latham.
