By Dennis Moran, Noozhawk Correspondent May 27, 2021 | 11:01 p.m. Carpinteria’s Vincent Rinaldi broke his own school record in the 100 meters and also took the 200 meters title and broke open a close 4x400 relay to lead the Warrior boys to the Citrus Coast League championship Thursday. The Carpinteria girls won the title too, the first time both boys and girls won a league titles for Carpinteria since 1999. The last league title for either was a girls’ title in 2004, in the Tri-Valley League. Rinaldi was honored as the Outstanding Boy Athlete of the meet and remained undefeated on the season for the 100 and 200. He shaved .02 seconds off his school record 100 time as CIF looms, to 10.85 seconds from 10.87. ....

(Brandon Victor / Noozhawk photo) By Brandon Victor, Noozhawk Contributing Writer May 10, 2021 | 9:00 p.m. Many coaches at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table’s Press Luncheon were eager to highlight the dedication of their student-athletes this season especially those who are playing multiple sports at the same time. “I see first hand the things these kids have to go through everyday, and it really is a testament to the athletes and the sacrifices that they’re making for their teams,” said Dos Pueblos softball coach Mike Gerken. “I hope all coaches recognize the sacrifices that all of your two-sport athletes are going through right now.” ....

In the throws, Carpinteria s Esai Vega set a new PR in the discus with a winning toss of 141-2. He finished third in the shot put with a PR of 41-8.50. The Carpinteria girls scored points in a number of events. Fatima Cervantes finished second in the high jump with a leap of 4-10, equaling her season best. Hannah Portzei of Oaks Christian also cleared 4-10 and won the event on fewer misses. Alex Zapata ran a PR of 50.92 to finish second in the 300 hurdles. Emily Noble of Maranatha took first in 50.46. ....
Housing and Development Newsletter Santa Barbara sophomore Drew DeLozier won the 800 meters (2:17.29) and was second in the 1600 meters (4:53.44) and ran on the winning 4x400. Freshman Blaise Snow took the 1600 (4:46.83), placed second in the 800 (220.14) and ran on the winning relay. Those are two young guys I m asking a lot of, said Perdices. From 400 meters through cross country, they just understand how to show up and compete. Sophomore Davis Flanagin notched two wins and recorded personal bests in four events. He went 19-5 to take the long jump and won the triple jump at 39-3.50. He also took second in the 100 meters (12.36) and third in the 200 (25.63). ....
