The victim, Glen Hazen Roth, 64, of Flint, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident happened about 6:17 a.m. in the rear truck parking lot at the Love s Truck Stop, 1609 Nadeau Road, near I-75.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that Roth had been walking through the parking lot when he was struck by a 2017 Freightliner operated by a man from Ontario, Canada. Neither alcohol nor intoxicating substances appear to be a factor in the crash, the report said.
Monroe Community Ambulance and Frenchtown Fire Department assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by Deputies Burkhart, Preadmore, and Galloro of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Division, and Deputies Riffle and Harvey of the Uniform Services Division. Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call (734) 240-7560.

SUMMERFIELD TWP. A truck driver suffered serious injuries when his rig drove off U.S. 23, crashed and burst into flames Thursday afternoon.
Northbound lanes of the highway were closed for hours while the scene was cleared. Only one lane was reopened four hours after the accident. It was a pile of mess, said Summerfield Fire Chief Nick Lucas.
The truck driver was headed north near Exit 11 when the 18-wheeler left the roadway for unknown reasons. Lucas said the rig struck a large tree, cutting it half. The tree was about two feet in diameter at the base.
Toledo woman seriously injured in US-23 crash

The victim has since been identified as Sonya Maris Sigarroa, 33, of Toledo. She remained in critical condition in an area hospital on March 6.

A Toledo woman is reported to be in critical condition for injuries sustained when her car struck a traffic barrier on US-23 and plummeted 24 feet into water, the Monroe County Sheriff s Office reported.
The accident happened about 10:50 p.m. Tuesday on northbound US-23, near Sterns Road, Exit 1, in Whiteford Township.
According to initial reports, the 33-year-old woman was driving a blue Chevrolet Impala northbound when, for unknown reasons, she drove off the highway to the west and into the center median.
The victim was Lance H. Pittman Jr., 33, of Ypsilanti.
The accident happened on northbound US-23, south of Consear Road, which is Exit 3, in Whiteford Township.
According to reports, Pittman was driving a black Hyundai Tiburon northbound on the highway when, for unknown reasons, the Hyundai came to a stop on the shoulder of the freeway.
Then the Hyundai started to travel in reverse, southbound on the northbound shoulder, and entered the right lane of travel, reports said.
At that point, the car was struck by a gray 2010 Ford Expedition that Ervin Evans, age 52, of Adrian, was driving northbound in the right lane of US-23.

There were 19 fatal crashes that claimed 25 lives in Monroe County last year, not far off from the 16 deadly crashes that took 17 lives in 2019, according to annual data collected by The Monroe News.
