News No Comments UA Little Rock encourages students, faculty, alumni, and administrators to recognize academic advisors who go above and beyond with the third annual Trojan Outstanding Advising Award. This award program highlights the importance of appreciating advisors who help students navigate throughout their academic career and work toward achieving their dreams. Nominees will be entered to win a $1,000 cash award. Those eligible include professional academic advisors who have been employed by the university for at least a year and hold a position below the rank of director of Student Services. The selection committee will look for a number of qualities or practices that set the nominee apart, such as their efforts to create helpful, positive relationships with advisees and support the needs of a diverse student population. ....
Published on February 3, 2021 at 12:40 am Over 330 students, staff and faculty from the UT community tested positive for COVID-19 in the first two weeks of the spring semester, according to UT’s COVID-19 dashboard. UT’s Proactive Community Testing positivity rate for students is at 2.85% as of Feb. 1, the highest it s been during a semester since Sept. 18, when the positivity rate was about 3%, according to the COVID-19 dashboard. So far, about 100 fewer members of the UT community have tested positive for COVID-19 in the first two weeks of school this spring when compared to last fall. This semester, dorm residents were required to get a COVID-19 test within four days of moving in. Jessica Klima, the new director of the Proactive Community Testing Program, said dorm residents made up about 22% of tests done from Jan. 11-29. ....

They were recognized for those contributions at the presentation of the second annual EPIC Innovation Awards, held January 28. “Innovation is absolutely critical to UofL’s mission,” said UofL President Neeli Bendapudi. “It’s what drives us and inspires us. Our three most important goals as a university are to be a great place to learn, to work and to invest, and the work of these innovators contributes to all three.” ....

January 27, 2021 SHARE The Washington University in St. Louis community is invited to an online discussion exploring a new proposal aimed at creating more jobs in the St. Louis region during the coming decade. The STL 2030 Jobs Plan, currently in draft form, focuses on inclusive growth throughout the St. Louis region. It was compiled after international economic development expert Bruce Katz conducted extensive research and interviews. The draft plan calls for the St. Louis metropolitan community to make a commitment to create more high-quality job opportunities while also ensuring all residents have access to those opportunities. Community, civic, nonprofit and economic leaders including various members of the Washington University community served on committees to help develop the data-driven plan. Now, leaders seek input from across the university during an online discussion from noon-1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1. ....
