LAWRENCE, Kan. – In the 2021 regular-season finale, the Kansas softball team fell to Iowa State, 12-4, at Arrocha Ballpark on Sunday afternoon. The Jayhawks end the regular season 22-26 overall and 2-16 Big 12 record. Iowa State improves to 31-19 on the year and 6-12 in Big 12 play. On the day, KU recorded nine hits being led at the plate by Jordan Richards who went 2-for-2 with one run scored and by Morgyn Wynne who finished 2-for-4 with one RBI. Shelby Gayre also came in to pinch hit a three-run homer for the Jayhawks. The Cyclones scored four unanswered spread out over the first five innings to jump out to an early lead. ....

Action continues Thursday with a single game against the Jackrabbits before capping the weekend with single games against the University of Northern Iowa on Friday and Saturday. The Jayhawks are coming off a 4-1 performance last weekend at the Wooo Pig Classic and are 8-2 in the last 10 games played. LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas softball team announced Thursday it has 43 dates slated for the 2021 season with an anticipated number of 51 contests spread amongst them. Four-straight nonconference tournaments, open up the year for the Jayhawks, including trips to LSU (Feb. 12-14), North Texas (Feb. 19-21), UTSA (Feb. 26-28) and Arkansas (March 5-7). Kansas will then return to Arrocha Ballpark to open up a three-week stretch of nothing but home contests: South Dakota State (March 11), the Jayhawk Invitational (March 12-14), the Rock Chalk Challenge (March 20-21), Arkansas (March 24) and Oklahoma State (March 26-28). “As of today, I feel really good about our schedule and the preseason tournaments we are competing in,” head coach Jennifer McFalls said. “We definitely had to make some adjustments, but overall, I am pleased that we have been able to still schedule 51 games.
