The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation April 8 announced 184 individuals as recipients of its prestigious 2021 Guggenheim Fellowships, which included five Indian Americans. The nearly 200 awardees, a group comprised of artists, writers, scholars and scientists, were chosen through a peer-review process from about 3,000 applicants, the foundation said in a news release. In the Natural Sciences, Fellows included Arjun Dey, astronomer with NSFâs National Optical-Infrared Astronomy Research Laboratory, of Tucson, Arizona, for Astronomy-Astrophysics; Priyanga Amarasekare, professor of ecology and evolution at the University of California, Los Angeles, California, was selected for Biology; and Suhas Diggavi, professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of California at Los Angeles, California, for Engineering. ....
