Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley provides distance learning to kids during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the pandemic, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley has been Arizona’s largest provider of child care and served an average of more than 1,000 youth a day, according to Emily Denes of the nonprofit. 
In March, Gov. Doug Ducey s office and the state Department of Education coordinated with Boys & Girls Clubs Arizona Alliance, as well as other groups, to provide child care options for families in need, especially for health care providers and first responders. ....

Pinetop resident inducted into Az Veterans Hall of Fame


PHOENIX — Al Crawford brings honor to Arizona and the White Mountains with the recent announcement that he will be inducted into the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame’s class of 2020. (Crawford is a summer resident of Pinetop-Lakeside.)
A native Tucsonian, Al attended the University of Arizona and was appointed to West Point by Arizona Congressman Richard Harless. He graduated from West Point in 1950. He then earned M.S. degrees in both electrical and industrial engineering at Stanford University. After a distinguished career in the Army, obtaining the rank of Major General at age 42, he and his high school sweetheart Bettie returned to Arizona and their home in Lakeside ....

Allocate to Elevate never on backburner for one team

But this number may be the one that he is the most proud of: His team is always the first to reach 90% participation in workplace giving program Allocate to Elevate, in which Grand Canyon University and Grand Canyon Education employees divert their state tax dollars to Habitat for Humanity, public school extracurricular programs or School Choice Arizona.

Head to the Heard Museum on Saturday or Sunday, December 26 or 27, to enjoy Holidays at Heard, which includes live music and artists demonstrations between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. If you’d also like to explore the museum, you’ll need to pay admission, which is $20 for adults (or $17 if purchased online in advance). Snow Week
Arizona Science Center launches this year’s Snow Week on Saturday, December 26. Instead of having a pile of snow on a big hill, the center will have several activities inspired by the science of ice and snow. It’s included with admission, which is $14.95 for adults.
