Royal Caribbean exec: Homeporting will help reinvigorate Bahamian economy NASSAU, BAHAMAS Calling homeporting a “win-win” for the country, president of the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association Robert “Sandy” Sands this week lauded the potential of Royal Caribbean’s plans to homeport in Nassau this summer. Sands declared it would boost airlift, help fill hotel rooms and provide opportunities for professional services, jobs, vendors and an uptick to a comeback economy. “We welcome homeporting; this is very good news for The Bahamas,” said Sands, who was speaking on the inaugural ZNS-TV and radio show Direct Talk with host David G Wallace. ....

At a virtual town planning meeting in Nassau, a Royal Caribbean representative said the deal is waiting final signatures to be completed. According to Eyewitness News, Royal Caribbean Group Vice President of Private Destinations, James Black, told the meetings attendees, all terms for the development have been agreed to, approved and are awaiting signature for final execution of the contract. The beach club will be built on 7 acres on the western end of Paradise Island. According to Mr. Black, Royal Caribbean had originally wanted more land, but negotiations brought it down to seven, The crown land lease is seven acres. Royal Caribbean had originally requested 21 acres including the lighthouse and the government negotiated own from 21 to 10 acres and now to seven acres under submission. ....
NASSAU, BAHAMAS The Global Leadership Summit (GLS) Bahamas announced yesterday that Royal Caribbean Group will be a silver sponsor of its annual event, bringing top names in business and leadership to audiences in The Bahamas. It will be the third year that the long-time friend and supporter of The Bahamas is sponsoring the summit, but when the conference is held March 5 and 6, it will be the first time it will be conducted virtually.
