Balochistan rains claim eight lives Flash floods inundate several districts; communication link between towns broken QUETTA: Torrential rains and flash floods wreaked havoc in Balochistan, killing at least eight people and causing widespread damage across the province. During the recent spell of monsoon rains accompanied by gusty winds, several districts of Balochistan, including Kachi, Harnai, Pishin, Khuzdar, Kech and Panjgur, were inundated while the communication and road infrastructure links of several towns were broken from other parts of the province. In Pishin at least five members of a family died as roof of their mud house collapsed due to continuous rain during the last two days. Pishin Deputy Commissioner Shahbbir Mengal told media that roof of Mohammad’s house collapsed in Killi Regi area of Bostan Tehsil which killed the man and his four children. ....
Heavy rain paralyses life in Abbottabad ABBOTTABAD: Heavy rain, which started in the wee hours of Monday, paralysed routine life in Abbottabad city. The 70 percent area of the Abbottabad city, mostly the cantonment localities witnessed heavy flood that caused long queues of vehicles on main Karakoram Highway and link roads. One to two feet of rainwater accumulated in Hassan Town, Bilal Town, Sir Syed Colony, Lambi Dheri, Thar Kana Chowk, Supply, Kala Pul, Stylo Street, Shah Zaman Colony, main PMA Road and even the Ayub Teaching Hospital was full of rainwater. The heavy rain damaged the Ayub Bridge at Havelian, causing diversion of all the traffic on main KKH highway to the old bridge and long queues of vehicles were seen on the both sides of the road. ....
A car and motorcycles buried in debris after a wall collapsed due to heavy rain in Abbottabad on Monday. Dawn MANSEHRA: Flash floods triggered by heavy monsoon rains killed four people, including two minor girls, destroyed houses and blocked roads in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday night and Monday. The wall of a house collapsed in Upper Channia area of Mansehra district leaving Mohammad Zeeshan, 25, buried under the debris. The Rescue 1122 personnel recovered the body. Mohammad Farhan, 9, died after his house was inundated by floodwaters in Pano Dehri area. The downpour flooded a local stream inundating dozen of houses in the area and adjoining localities. ....

According to details, heavy rain completely destroyed 14 houses in village Salkhala in Neelum Valley while 20 were partially damaged. Water supply system in many areas was also destroyed by the rain causing severe drinking water shortage. According to sources, a man and his wife were swept away in flashfloods in Neelum Valley while a woman and her minor daughter were wounded. ....
