TORONTO: A new research adds to the growing body of evidence that COVID-19 pandemic is seriously affecting sleep habits, increasing stress and anxiety and further dependence on sleep medication.
For the study, the research team conducted an online survey of 5,525 Canadian during the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pandemic is having a diverse impact on people s sleep, with clinically meaningful sleep difficulties having undergone a sharp increase. We found that half of our participants showed signs of serious sleep problems during the pandemic, said study author Rebecca Robillard from the University of Ottawa in Canada. ....

The Assam government today has released the holiday list for all Offices under Government of Assam as well as its Revenue and Magisterial Courts.

Guwahati: With only a few days remaining before 2021, the Government of Assam today has released the official list of Holidays applicable to all the Offices as well as Revenue and Magisterial Courts under it. Dated 18th of December, the holiday list came after a decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting held on 13 December.
The Cabinet approved the holiday list for 2021. General Holidays will be 34 days and restricted holidays will be 31 days. posted Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal. As has been quoted by the CM himself, the number of Gazetted holidays and Restricted holidays are 34 and 31 respectively while the number of half-holidays in the upcoming year is 2. MUMBAI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has sent a notice to filmmaker Karan Johar in connection with the alleged drug party at his residence in 2019 in which several Bollywood personalities were seen in a viral video.
An NCB official said that a notice has been given with regard to the video which was in circulation.
The NCB had received a complaint from Manjinder Singh Sirsa in this regard and was marked to the Maharashtra Zonal Unit. To check the veracity of the video the notice has been sent, said the official. ....

TRIHMS bed-capacity target increased to 650

ITANAGAR: The first medical college & hospital in Arunachal Pradesh Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHIMS) is set to ink a record soon by increasing the number of its beds to 750, said the institute s Director Dr Moji Jini, adding that the move will ensure that no patient returns for failure to get a seat for admission in the hospital.
The TRIHMS was approved in 2012 at the initiative of then Union Joint Health Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin. It aims at offering round-the-clock emergency service while a dialysis unit under the PM National Dialysis Programme and have one of the best CT scan units in the country. The college opened with 50 seats in first batch in August 2018. The State government had urged the Medical Council of India (MCI) to increase the seats from 50 to 100. Dr Jini said that the ongoing Block-II on completion will undoubtedly increase the number of beds to 750, which was not in the plan, adding that the acco ....
