India reports 41,157 new COVID-19 cases, 518 deaths in last 24 hours New Delhi, July 18, 2021 India today reported 41,157 new cases of COVID-19 infection and 518 deaths in the last 24 hours as the spread of the coronavirus pandemic remained on a downward trajectory in most parts of the country though there was some concern about the high numbers of cases in Kerala and some other parts. At 41,157, the number of new cases today is higher than the 38,079 recorded yesterday. Of these, as many as 16,148 cases were registered in Kerala. However, the number of deaths today, at 518, is lower than the 560 posted yesterday. The country had reported more than 4,000 deaths a day on 13 days in May at the peak of the second wave of the pandemic.
