The Centre, through these control rooms, coordinate with various state governments to solve worker related problems from across India. “Lakhs of workers used this facility last year and got their grievances resolved,” the ministry said.
The labour ministry has re-started the nationwide control rooms, set up last year, to address the grievances of workers and mitigate their problems as more and more migrant workers are heading back home after complete and partial lockdowns in different states.
“In view of the resurgence of COVID-19 and subsequent imposition of certain restrictions by state governments, the ministry has rejuvenated the 20 control rooms set up in April 2020 to address wage related grievances of workers employed in the central sphere and to mitigate the problems of migrant workers,” the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday. ....

The Union Labour and Employment Ministry on Tuesday reactivated the 20 control rooms it had set up in April 2020 to help migrant workers, in the wake of increasing COVID-19 cases and lockdowns announced by many States.
Labour and Employment Secretary Apurva Chandra said an order had been issued to restart the control rooms to help workers returning to their home States from cities, as had happened during the nationwide lockdown in March last year. He said officials of the Office of the Chief Labour Commissioner would be in charge of the control centres in various States. ....

A top government official told ET that as of now the worker movement across states continues to be normal and no state has reported any major influx or outflux of labour as the restrictions imposed in industrial towns are for a shorter duration.
The labour ministry took stock of the worker movement in dozen states on Tuesday as industrial towns tighten restrictions to control the surge in Covid-19 cases. The ministry will hold a weekly review with these states to better prepare for any mass movement of workers as happened last year during the nationwide lockdown. ....
