Khepra Anu vowed on social media this week not to open a storefront in D.C. until the city lifts its mask-wearing requirements. The posts say mask-wearing “does not promote health and definitely doesn’t provide safety” despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Countries around the world have encouraged or mandated wearing masks in order to limit the spread of COVID-19, which has so far killed 2.5 million people worldwide, 1,027 of them District residents. 
Just today, the Centers for Disease Control released a report that found mandating masks was associated with “a decrease in daily COVID-19 case and death growth rates within 20 days of implementation.” Masks work, according to the CDC, because the “virus is transmitted predominantly by inhaling respiratory droplets from infected persons.” ....

As COVID vaccine rollout to frontline workers takes center stage all over the world, seafarers and aviation workers are being prioritized alongwith healthcare workers, and Singapore has taken the lead in this matter as it has said that maritime workers would be getting the vaccine on priority.
Singapore became one of the first countries to prioritise COVID-19 vaccinations for frontline maritime personnel. These workers go onboard vessels at our port and come in contact with people from outside of Singapore. Ruck-on! charity walk to lighten load of others


SINGAPORE - Dressed in brightly coloured sportswear and ponchos, 103 volunteers and participants braved Sunday s (Jan 10) downpour in the finale of Ruck-on! Singapore!, a charity event where participants walked across Singapore s central district.
It was the last of five rucking events that took place over the past month, attracting about 380 participants in all. Rucking refers to walking with a rucksack loaded with weights to build strength.
Supermarket chain FairPrice had pledged to donate one bowl each of white rice, brown rice and oats to needy families in the South East Community Development Council area for every 300m walked by participants.
The participants covered about 4,000km over five walks, and around 40,000 bowls of grain will be donated. The walks were open to the public.  ....
