KK and Tawau prison clusters account for nearly half cases | Daily Express Online

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded another high of 657 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, with nearly 80 per cent stemming from both existing clusters and close contacts.

(pic) said the existing prison clusters in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau contributed 245 cases, accounting for 37.3 per cent of the daily caseload.
“Also contributing to the caseload are 199 close contacts which is 30.3 per cent. Both clusters and close contacts have contributed 516 cases, or 78.5 per cent of the daily caseload,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.

The caseload is also contributed by 71 cases from symptomatic screenings, 47 from targeted screenings and 23 from other screenings. ....

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah on Sunday recorded the highest daily number of 666 Covid-19 cases, with half of the caseload stemming from clusters at the Kapayan Prison and Tawau Prison, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun

“It’s Prison Day statistics-wise, as 50.3 per cent of today’s massive caseload of 666 stems from two prisons,” he said in a statement, Sunday, adding the Kapayan Prison contributed 211 cases while the Tawau Prison contributed 145 cases.
Masidi said 67.4 per cent (449 cases) were from existing clusters in localities that have already been placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO). ....

Kota Kinabalu: The State Government has tightened the existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration on July 20, in efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Sabah.

(pic) said the number of congregants allowed at mosques and suraus for congregational prayers has been reduced from 50 people to a maximum of 30 or one-third occupancy of the building’s space.
“House visits, open house celebrations, feasts and cemetery visits are strictly not allowed, while all Aidiladha activities in localities placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) are prohibited,” he said in a statement, Saturday. ....

Kota Kinabalu: The State Government acknowledges the plight of illegal immigrants needing aid.
However, State Government assistance is only extended to Sabahans with citizenship as many locals required it.
“The State Government, by principle, only provides assistance to those with citizen status.

“However, if non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and members of the public wish to provide assistance to illegal immigrants, the State Government will not forbid,” said Sabah’s Covid-19 Spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun

Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu recorded a three-digit high of 113 cases, which spiked Sabah’s daily caseload to 370 on Thursday from 286 on Wednesday.

(pic) said KK’s high number was largely contributed by new cases detected in existing clusters, with 49 from the Tembok Kota Kinabalu Cluster (Kepayan Prison).
The rest were from the Jalan Kayu Madang Cluster (six cases) and the Agora Borneo Cluster (five), while other cases were from targeted and symptomatic screenings as well as close contacts.

“Out of the 370 caseload, 148 are close contacts, 115 from clusters, 36 from targeted screenings and 21 from symptomatic screenings, while the rest from other categories ....
