Regional COVID-related deaths rose by seven over the past week while positivity rates remain generally low. Sac County rose by three deaths to 14. They have an increase of 21 cases since this time last Monday at 1,022 with 857 recovered and have a 9.4 percent positivity rate. Crawford County ranks third in the state with a 23.6 percent positivity rate and has had an additional four deaths, now at a total of 21. They are up 64 cases over the past week to 2,071 with 1,762 recovered. In the rest of the region: Calhoun County has the second lowest two-week positivity rate in the state at 6.1 percent. They had nine additional cases over the week up to 1,166 with 1,061 recovered and nine deaths; Carroll is at 15 percent with 2,328 cases, up 65, with 1,977 recovered and 27 deaths; Audubon is at 11 percent with 364 cases, up 21, with 297 recovered and seven deaths. 1923-2020 Ardyce Stock, 97, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, where she was a resident. Ardyce Elizabeth Stock, daughter of Rudy and Luella (Sillars) Stark, was born Oct. 4, 1923, in rural Lake View. She joined her two older siblings, Ruth and Lyle. Ardyce graduated in 1943 from Lake View High School, where she met the love of her life, Eugene Stock. While Eugene was deployed in the Army Air Corps in Europe, she attended Burroughs Business School in Des Moines, Iowa, and from there moved in 1943 to San Francisco, California, where she worked for South Pacific Standard Oil. She and five friends took the civil service tests and moved to Chicago in 1944 to work for the Treasury Department. After World War II ended, she returned to Lake View and married Eugene on April 11, 1945. They were blessed with two sons, Mitchell and Dean. They lived on the Stock Century Farm for 66 years. ....

Three of the seven counties in the Carroll Broadcasting coverage area are now reporting two-week positivity rates below 15 percent. Audubon County remains ranked third lowest in the state at 10.1 percent. They have seen a rise in positive cases of four since Friday morning, now at 328 with 255 recovered and six deaths. Calhoun County is also reporting in the 10 percent range at 10.7 percent. They have seen an increase of four positive cases over the weekend, now at 1,132 with 885 recovered and eight deaths. Greene is reporting an 11 percent positivity rate, but one more coronavirus-related death, bringing their total to six. They have seen an increase of eight positive cases, now at 585 with 418 recovered. Guthrie County is at 15.2 percent, up three cases to 843 with 618 recovered and 22 deaths.
