With events planned throughout the summer, WNMU Cultural Affairs Program Coordinator Alexandra Tager said she’s hopeful that people are ready to gather together to enjoy the arts once again. ....

Walz and Former Senator John Arthur Smith were conferred their honorary doctorates along with the more than 250 graduates making up the Western New Mexico University class of 2021. The event was streamed live on Facebook. Special acknowledgement is extended to Keirston Bloomfield graduated with her associates degree in liberal arts even before she graduated from high school. She will graduate from Silver High on May 20 th. Congratulations to Keirston on her dedication and accomplishment. ....

Harmony exists. That’s the word from two outdoor market managers who coordinate separate, simultaneous events Saturday mornings in downtown Silver City. Organized by the Future Forge Makerspace, the Makers Market held its first event of its second season at Main Street Plaza over the weekend, and an informal customer poll showed that almost every visitor there intended to or already had dropped by the Silver City Farmers’ Market located just a short distance to the north. ....
