And today, Friday, May 7, is that day #570Day.
“Northeast Pennsylvania packs a whole lot into one corner of the state,” said Christine Mackin Meluskey, President of the Wilkes-Barre Rotary Club, one of the organizing groups. “From hiking trails and breathtaking vistas, to ski slopes and water parks, to craft breweries and eateries dishing out local flavor and the list goes on and on.” ....

570 Day highlights the best local people, businesses, scenery, and more on social media on May 7

Northeast Pennsylvania packs a whole lot into one corner of the state. From hiking trails and breathtaking vistas, to ski slopes and water parks, to craft breweries and eateries dishing out local flavor… the list goes on and on. That’s the idea behind 570 Day taking place on Friday, May 7.
#570Day is a new online initiative born through the combined creative efforts of the Rotary Club of Wilkes-Barre, the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Visit Luzerne County. The day aims to spread positivity and local pride by celebrating the people and places within the 570 area code.
Being a part of 570 Day is easy. On May 7, organizers encourage people, businesses, schools, nonprofits, and organizations across Northeast Pennsylvania to use #570Day on social media to show what they love about living in the area. Post pictures, videos, and stories that highlight the natural beauty, businesses, and people “who make the 570 area so great.” ....

Geisinger supports local restaurants hit hard by pandemic | News, Sports, Jobs

DANVILLE – Geisinger partnered with eight local chambers of commerce to launch Meals in Spring and give back to the restaurants in the community hit hard by the pandemic.
As part of the program, more than 23,000 Geisinger employees can redeem a $10 meal voucher at any of nearly 300 participating restaurants across 12 counties through June 30.
“Our local chambers of commerce were among the first organizations that came to us during the early days of the pandemic offering help,” said John Grabusky, senior director of community relations. “They collected N95 masks and gloves, organized sewing groups for homemade masks and they were behind many donations of pizzas, sandwiches, coffees and snacks that started to flow into our facilities. Now, it’s our turn to help them by supporting our local restaurants with Meals in Spring.” ....
